A yummy recipe!!!

Here is a yummy recipe for you all to enjoy!!! Its compliments of my childhood friend, Christy! It sounds great and I cannot wait to make it!

Super Oreo Cake
1-(18oz) white cake mix                                       1/3 cup oil
4 egg whites                                                         1 1/4 cups water
1 1/4 cups coarsely chopped Oreo Cookies

Grease and flour 2, 8 or 9 inch round cake pans and set aside. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl, combine cake mix, water, oil and egg whites. Blend on slow speed until moist. Beat for 2 minutes on high speed. Gently fold in crushed cookies and pour prepared batter into cake pans.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
Cool for 10 minutes and remove from pan.  Cool completely.

Frosting
4 1/4 cups powered sugar                                    1 cup (2 sticks) softened butter
1 cup shortening                                                   1 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 cup crushed Oreos

Beat powdered sugar, butter, shortening and almond extract with mixer. Spread frosting on first layer of cake and place 2nd layer on top.
Spread frosting ov erhte top and sides, sprinkle with crushed cookies. (Or add the cookies to the frosting so each layer has cookies in it.)

Lessons in Life...

I am the first person to admit when I am wrong. I am also the first person to ask for help when I need it. I am also very hurt when someone disappoints me, especially when it keeps happening. It begins with hurt and sadness then it turns to anger but mostly disappointment and to me, that is the worst. I really dislike being let down by people, especially those you are supposed to be able to count on.
I found this quote and it really sums it up..."rejection may be as tough as physical pain. We need social connection and being excluded or rejected is perceived as being as harmful as something that can physically hurt us. We feel the pain of rejection in the same part of the brain, the anterior cingulated cortex, which responds to physical pain." Lenann McGookey Gardner
Wow, when I read that, I thought, exactly. How many people have felt rejected? Everyone!
Here is my point, I am not going to let that hurt and pain come from me. I am not going to let people down and disappoint them. My family, my jewelers, my co-workers, people need me and need my attention. So my lesson learned yesterday is to always take that moment or two to return that phone call or that text or say something nice like a compliment to make an impact. It is making a huge difference to people and will in your life too!
We can all be happier! We can all be more fulfilled! We can all be better! We can all go out of our way a little more to make someones day brighter!

Rally Time!!!!!

I am so excited about Rally! I am flying out tomorrow morning and will be enjoying getting to know new people, seeing the new jewelry line, picking up some great pieces to give as gifts to my hostesses and of course, growing my business!
I have never been to Rally so I am really looking forward to it! I have heard such wonderful things and I will bring everything I learn back and share it with you all!
I am hoping to add some more new jewelry ladies to my family as well so if you have been thinking about it, pondering and wondering, call or email me. :-)
It is all about those new and uplifting experiences, having fun and sharing it with other ladies!

Massive Open House this Sunday!

I am so very excited for our massive open house this Sunday! I teamed up with my Mary Kay lady to do an open house that her customers and mine would benefit from! We have awesome giveaways, yummy food lined up, samples and of course I am giving away a $50 jewelry gift certificate! How awesome is that!
I am hoping to book tons of shows with the 50% hostess award and of course sell tons of jewelry! My goal is to make enough to pay my sons school tuition! Its a big goal but I am really confident I can do it!
I have a huge fund raiser going for a lady in Virginia too. She is trying to adopt and this is helping her pay for it all. So if you would like to purchase jewelry for that cause, please let me know.

My progress update!

First of all, I would like to say thank you to everyone who has been supporting me on my journey to be a stay at home mom and full time jewelry lady! I have to admit, building my business so it is sustainable is taking more time than I thought...I am impatient but I just keep telling myself I can do this and it is happening slowly but surely. I mean if I can do it and do it all wrong, anyone can do it!
I ordered new business cards! I ordered magnets for my car! I am reaching out of my comfort zone and trying all kinds of things to grow my business. It all takes time to show but it is trickling in.
I have really learned to stay positive, stay focused, not let the mean things people say affect me and just trust in God that He will make it happen and help me to reap what I am sewing!
Its funny how reaching out to friends hasnt gotten me anywhere...that was hard to swallow and sort of disappointing but again, an obsticle that turned into a learning experience...I mean I even offered them free jewelry...no one booked a show with me...not one. That hurt for sure but I grew and I didnt loose my positive outlook!
In fact, I am doing a huge open house this weekend, helping a wonderful lady by giving her the proceeds from my jewelry sales for her fundraiser to get her babies and doing all kinds of things to help others. Nothing has come back in the form of others helping me sadly but that is not why I am doing it. I am doing it because I have a big heart and I am a good person and that is exactly why I should!
I am moving forward and growing my business! I will succeed and I will be a stay at home mom with a successful jewelry business no matter what! I have all of the right tools and the support from a loving and wonderful husband! I can and will do this!
Whatever you are trying to achieve, DO NOT GIVE UP!! Stick with it and you and God will make it happen!
